Jayabaya University, a famous private university in Jakarta, cooperated with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia to hold a training on Intellectual Property Attorney for the 8th course. The opening of training held on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at Sahid Hotel, Jakarta. This opening was attended by Director General for Intellectual Property Rights with his staff and officials of Jayabaya University.
According to government regulation No. 2 of 2005 Article 1 (1) about IPR Attorney in Indonesia, the Higher Education Institutions, which are appointed by the Directorate General IPR of Indonesia, could be a partner to hold a training on Intellectual Property Rights in Indonesia.
Director General for Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia, Prof. Ahmad M. Ramli SH. MH. FCBArb asked all participants, attending the training on IPR in Indonesia for 3 months, to learn seriusly. Meanwhile, Director for Cooperation and Promotion of Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia, Ir. Timbul Sinaga, asked them to build a positive synergy between the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia and the universities in Indonesia.
There are 92 people who attended the training on IPR Attorneys from various disciplines. This training is expected to produce professional IPR Attorneys in Indonesia. In the years of 2013 there are 646 Intellectual property attorneys that registered in Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia. Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia will conduct an evaluation every 5 years for every IPR Attorney who has been registered.
According to Article 10 (2) b of regulation No. 2 of 2005 about Regulation of IPR Attorney in Indonesia, The Director General of Intellectual Property Rights of Indonesia shall remove the license of IPR Attorneys if they could not filed minimum of 10 application of IPR in one years. In Indonesia, the IPR Attorneys are listed as members of Association of Intellectual Property Attorney of Indonesia (AKHKI).
