Songs and music are results of creativity which are included in the list of protected creations under The Copyright Law. As set out in The Copyright Law, protectable creations provide economic benefits to creators, right holders and related rights owners. In this case, songs/music grant royalties to creators, copyright holder and owners of related rights. Therefore, there is a need for clearer rules on how to ensure that there are no misunderstandings and legal loopholes. In addition to creators, copyright holders and related right owners, the existence of this regulation can also give certainty in terms of legality for parties that are using songs/music for commercial purposes.
Government Regulation Number 56 o 2021 concerning Management of Songs and/or Music Copyright Royalties was established on 31 March, 2021. It takes it account Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright.
